Around the World..... Blog Hop!

| | 6 commenti

Happy monday to everyone! Today I am participating in Around the World Blog Hop.
Thank you Ruth from Rose hill collection for inviting me! Ruth is one of my first bloggy friends::: she is a lovely  dreamer from Bangalore who loves crafting and family activity. Her posts are always joyful and happy, I'd highly recommend hopping over to visit.

To take part in the Blog Hop I have four questions to answer regarding my creative thinking that will help you to get to know my crafty universe a little better. So here we go::::

1. What am I working on?

Granny squares blanket is my ongoing project::: It's a really lovely blanket to pick up and put down as it doesn't need much concentration to work on it and it's a great way to get practice. I also like making small things that I can use regularly or become a perfect present for friends like fingerless gloves or a pochette that I'm going to start. These small projects that I can complete in a week end are giving me a lot of satisfaction!

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

If I was asked to describe my style I would say that I like the things I make to be quite simple in pattern and colourful. I love to work with chunky yarn, to crochet scarf and other accessories::: they looks like cute and cozy!

I also like anything with a retro style, from forniture to accessories, and I would like to give my creations a vintage but fresh look. I'm a novice crocheter, and haven't ever designed anything so I draw a lot of inspiration from other blogs::: but I try to bring a personal touch to my creation hoping they reflect me a little bit.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

I crochet because it brings me enjoyment and I like making things with my own hands. I've always tried to play with buttons and threads::: think to work on my non existant knitting skills and to try to start sewing. I also play with old band t-shirts, jeans, platic boxes or glass jar as recycling targets because I belive in the philosophy of reuse! I love create things and I enjoy all parts of the process, the planning, the yarnstore, the making and to see my ideas come to life and someone else appreciate something I have made. Crochet it's also extremely relaxing:::when I'm back from work crochet is my number one choice for down time.

4. How does my writing/creating process work?

My creative process could start with an idea or a picture pops in to my head, sometimes I'll been inspired by a color combination or a interesting stitch I have picked up from all the lovely blogs out there. My interests shift quite frequently::: I love do experiment with different color combinations, different yarns and materials,  trying new things out and learning new techniques.

I've really enjoyed answering the questions for this blog hop and I hope this gives you a little insight my world of creativity::: it now gives me great pleasure to introduce one of my favourite blogger Magda of Pigtails to talk about her creative process:::

Have a great week!

T-shirt recycling idea

| | 5 commenti

Hello crafty people! I hope you have all had a great week, I've had a really busy month at work and finding time to crochet has seemed near impossible..anyway there are some projects rambling on my mind that  I want to realize, so... I start to cut old T-shirt! Recycle old band t-shirt is one of my first crafty obsession::: this time I just cut them to tranform in T-shirt yarn (see a nice tutorial here).

If you have some top to recycle make sure the shirts are not ribbed jersey fabric and doesn't have seam up the sides. Is also better to avoid T-shirt with printed logo.. I confess I overlook all this suggestions!
black yarn---> T-shirt with logo
violet yarn---> T-shirt have seam up the sides
red yarn---> T-shirt with logo

With the yarn T-shirt I want to create a chunky basket for my work in progress that actually are stored in an featureless box. I use the most popular pattern on ravelry from Liz of crochet in color:: I crochet the bigger basket and I found this pattern simple and beautiful!

I start creating the bottom of the basket...

going on crocheting the body:::two round of half double crochet followed by one roud of single crochet, working in back loops only

and ta-dah! Here we are with the finished basket! What do you think?Somewhere there are lumps caused by the side seams that makes the yarn uneven but I think is not so bad at all.

Anyway I had a lot of fun recycling T-shirts in yarn and I'm thinking about my next work:::T-shirt yarn is quick and easy to make. It can be used in an endless array of projects::: from necklace to rug, take alook at my inspiration board here

And You? How are your crafty makes going? Have a great monday!

Granny squares tip and trick

| | 5 commenti

Hello lovelies! Do you remember the mood blanket 2014 contest? I want to show you the squares of july:::the inspiration this time come from LOVE. Granny squares blankets in my imaginary represent sentimental ties and family love and july is a special month to celebrate...

I know that summer is definitively arrived and it's time to put the blanket in the closet, but you know that I'm a granny addicted so I can't stop to talking about this topic yep! For this reason I collect some tips hoping this will be useful to arrange your own blanket project:

-Go to the yarnstore with an accurate list of colors::: or you will buy everything

-Bored of the classic pattern? Take a look at Barbara's  squares motif collection::: you can choose between over 100 patterns!

-Select carefully your colors combination::: actually I use to do some squares with random colors and other with similar shades to obtain a gradient. P.S.  If you want to be sure that your choise is not affected by your liking you can use a list randomizer (go nerdy!)

-For every color combination make a fixed number of squares::: for this project I change color combination every 4 squares::: in my opinion this can help to achieve a good proportion of color shades

-Take care of the gauge::: make sure that  the crocheted piece you make will be the right size when it's completed::: see my attemp below

I hope I have not bored you with all this talking about granny.. anyway have a great july!
